FABIO MOVES

A couple of Manchester United players have been reported to be close to making their way to Cardiff City. Those two players are Fabio da Silva and Wilfried Zaha.

It’s not shocking news at all. Both these players weren’t having enough playing time at Old Trafford and an away move by them was always a possibility. However, no official statement has been released yet either by United or Cardiff.

According to the reporters, Zaha is likely to be placed on loan, while Silva’s move would be permanent.

Zaha had been signed by United about 12 months ago, but, he hasn’t been given even one starting opportunity in the Premier league so far. He would definitely be happy with a loan move to Cardiff as he would not lack playing time at the Wales club.

Apart from paying the salary of the player, Cardiff would pay an additional amount of 1.5 million Pounds to United to have Zaha till the end of the ongoing season.

The 21 years old English forward is understood to go through medical test in about two days’ time. However, he would not be able to represent the Bluebirds in their upcoming league game against United because according to the rules of the EPL, a player who has been placed on loan can’t take on his parent club.

As far as Silva is concerned, he too was a loan candidate initially, but, because of the fact that his contract at Old Trafford would finish next summer, Moyes thought that getting transfer fee for him would be a better option.

Silva has spent almost 7 years at Old Trafford till now. He has played only 22 league games in that duration He had spent the entire last season at Queens Park rangers playing on loan.

MOMENTUM

Manchester United is picking up their momentum and starting to earn themselves positive results in the Premier League as well as the Champions League as they are one of the last 16 remaining teams battling it out in the European competition.

They could use some boosts of new arrivals for their tough journey that waits for them in 2014. The Premier League team received a number of complaints when they only made a move for Marouane Fellaini during the summer and some are with the list of injured players that just keeps on increasing week after week, some new players might just be the element they need to climb back up in the English league and battle against the best in the Champions League.

The former Everton player Fellaini will be out of the pitch for around a month as he is the latest player that joins the list of injuries.

Everton Ribeiro made a successful campaign with Cruizeiro and the 24 years old winger has already expressed his desire to play alongside Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. According to his agent, Manchester United has already made contact and held talks with the club as well as the player as they are hoping to snatch him up.

Another player that seems to be on verge of leaving his respective club is Xabi Alonso as Carlo Ancelotti stated in a press conference not too long ago that he has other important players on his team and the Spanish player is just what Manchester United needs to stick together the midfield which has been suffering and receiving a lot of complaints in this season.

Wesley Sneijder was another big target for Moyes in January but the former Inter Milan player already said that he is happy playing in Galatasaray and has no intentions of leaving anytime soon.

Fabio da Silva could leave Manchester United

Manchester United’s Brazilian full back Fabio da Silva has revealed that he could be ready to quit the English giants in search for first team football.

According to an interview the Brazilian gave to an English media outlet, he is considering his options after being limited to very few opportunities to first team action and he could be seeking a move away from the club in the January window or next summer as he seeks to fulfill his ambitions and get regular playing time.

Speaking in the interview, the Brazilian youngster stated that he thinks the time has come for him to weigh up his options and he could leave the club in the next window or next summer, whichever is suitable for him. He stated that there are some clubs already showing interest in his services but Fabio da Silva also admitted that he is not looking to rush into a decision and will take time before he decides on his next move.

The 23 year old Brazilian spent last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers and suffered relegation with the London club and has so far, failed to nail down a first team spot under David Moyes as well as former manager Sir Alex Ferguson after arriving at the club with twin brother Rafael in 2008.

He has fallen behind the pecking order at left back at United with Moyes preferring Dutchman Alexander Buttner as back up to Patrice Evra and is also tracking Leighton Baines as cover for the Frenchman and this has led Fabio da Silva to consider his options.

He might feel aggrieved that he has failed to nail down a regular spot at left back whereas Rafael is a starter on the opposite flank and he might think it’s time to go separate ways.

Rafael and Fabio Da Silva delighted to be back together

Manchester United’s twin wing back Rafael Da Silva and Fabio Da Silva are delighted to be reunited once again at the Theatre of Dreams after a season apart and are looking forward to the new season under the management of David Moyes.

While Rafael was Sir Alex Ferguson’s preferred choice for right back in his last season in charge at the club, Fabio was sent out on loan to Premier League side Queens Park Rangers where he enjoyed a spell in the first team, gaining valuable experience and playing time at the top level. The pair returned for training at the club’s AON Training Complex and went on tour for the club in Asia and Australia where both the Brazilians played their part.

Joe Jordan, the assistant manager to Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers had mentioned earlier last month that the experience Fabio Da Silva gained at the club as they got relegated at the end of last season will serve him well for years to come and the Brazilian showed glimpses of the promise during the club’s pre-season tour as a stand in for regular left back Patrice Evra.

Speaking to the club’s website, Rafael, who excelled as the first choice right back at the club last season, stated that the club’s pre-season tour is all about gaining fitness and momentum and the players worked very hard during the tour before returning to England for further training.

Fabio Da Silva echoed the comments made by his brother adding that it was great to be back playing with him before going on to state that the last season has seen both of them mature a lot as players and both of them have gained valuable experience playing in the first team and learning the trade of nailing down a spot.

SCOLARI BACKS PLAYERS

The manager of the Brazilian national football team, Luiz Felipe Scolari, has lauded his players for their brilliant performance in the semi final match of the confederations Cup which was played at Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto on Thursday.

Brazil defeated Uruguay by a close margin of 2-1 courtesy of a match winning strike by Paulinho in the 86th minute. It was Neymar who assisted that goal by whipping in a great corner kick and Paulinho headed that home comfortably.

Talking to the reporters in the post match press conference, Scolari said, “It was a team effort. We fought hard together and ended up on the right side of it. Hopefully, this victory will unite Brazilian people.”

“We need to keep our foot grounded. There is still one match to go. We are going to face a quality team in the final and we need to be up for it.”

“I want to thank the fans as well. They kept the spirits of the players high during the tough moments.”

Neymar was also present in the press conference with Scolari. He said, “Uruguay is a very strong team. They have got some great strikers. So, we knew that it would be a difficult game. But, we didn’t panic. We played to our strengths and pulled it off.”

Brazil hadn’t come into this tournament as favourites just because of their inconsistency in the last 1 year or so. But, they have been phenomenal right from the outset.

They won all their group games quite easily and topped their group to make it to the semis and then, with another fine performance against Uruguay, they are now just one win away from the title.

The final match of the Confederations Cup will be played on 30th of June at Rio de Janeiro.

LEFT WINGER?

The Manchester United defender Fabio Da Silva has said that he could see himself as a winger at Old Trafford in the future. The defender is currently on loan at the Premier league strugglers QPR till the end of the season.

He has been getting valuable first-team action at Loftus Road this season. He is expected to return to Old Trafford where he will be competing for a place against the likes of Patrice Evra. Rafael Da Silva has been able to establish himself ahead of its twin brother Fabio mainly because of his defensive qualities. Fabio, on the other hand, is an extremely attacking full-back.

This has been one of the major problems for Fabio since his arrival in England. Prior to the Manchester United move, Fabio was regarded as the best player of the two due to his attacking abilities. However, European football has always toned down the attacking threat of fullbacks, which has led to the difficult situation surrounding the Brazilian defender. Warren Joyce said in a recent interview to the official site of Manchester United that both these players are held in high regard by the club. This has delighted Fabio, who has said that he could see himself playing as a winger in order to establish himself at Old Trafford.

“It’s very nice. Maybe in the future, my brother and I will play as wingers [at United]. I don’t know. I’m here now and I want to help QPR get out of the relegation zone,” said the defender. The 22-year-old has already made 18 appearances for the club this season. The presence of Patrice Evra has limited opportunities he had at Old Trafford, which led to the loan deal. Due to the fact that it has been successful so far, he is expected to compete with Evra from next season.

HOOPER MIGHT ARRIVE

The QPR manager Harry Redknapp has said that he is likely to make a January move for the Celtic striker Gary Hooper, who has attracted a lot of attention in recent months. The English striker is currently playing for the Scottish team, but he is widely tipped to return to England in the January transfer window. Redknapp has been keen to bring in his own players during the January transfer window and also boost the striking options within the squad. Due to the injury to Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson, Redknapp’s only striking option up front remains Cisse.

It is thought that the former Tottenham manager does not fully trust of the goalscoring abilities of the Frenchman. Hence, he has a linked with a number of strikers including the former Chelsea man Nicolas Anelka. The Frenchman is currently expected to leave the Chinese league after falling out with his current club Shanghai Shenhua, but the manager did admit recently that his wages could be a major problem. Anelka is currently on a contract worth around £ 220,000 per week, thus making him one of the best paid players in the world. Cooper has already scored 15 goals for Celtic in all competitions this season. Redknapp suggested after the match against Newcastle that he is likely to make a bid for him.

“Teams think they can screw you into the ground because you are desperate. They know you don’t want to get relegated. Whoever you bring has to be the right type, the right kind to get us out of the situation we are in,” said the QPR manager. Harry Redknapp suffered his first defeat as a QPR manager during the weekend after his team lost 1-0 against Newcastle United. This defeat follows the first win of the season for the club against Fulham last weekend.

EMBARRASSING PERFORMANCE

The new QPR manager Harry Redknapp has said that the performance of the QPR players this season has been nothing short of embarrassing. The former Tottenham manager was recently appointed as the replacement for Mark Hughes, who was sacked on Friday. This was following a poor run of results that has left the club bottom of the Premier league table. They are also winless in the 12 matches they have played so far. Mark Hughes said after surviving in the Premier league last season that he would not leave the club in a similar situation – fighting against relegation.

However, despite spending a lot of money bringing in several high profile players like José Bosingwa and Granero, the club find themselves in an even worse position. After taking over the reins from the former Blackburn manager, Redknapp blasted the players by saying that they should have been performing a lot better on the pitch. He has said that the fact that they had taken just four points from the 13 matches is extremely embarrassing. Redknapp was in the stands for the recent defeat of QPR – against Manchester United during the weekend. The away trip to Sunderland in the midweek action gives Redknapp the opportunity to get the first win of the season for QPR.

“Anyone should be higher than four points. It’s an embarrassing total for the players to have. They have got to do better. It is no good us all kidding ourselves, saying they have all done great and fantastic. You can’t be doing great if you have only four points, can you? That’s impossible. It is not tough to work it out. How can you have four points from 13 games? Something has got to be wrong,” said Redknapp ahead of the match with Sunderland on Tuesday night.

GET WELL SOON

The QPR manager Mark Hughes has said that his club is now facing a defensive crisis and he hopes that some of his defenders get well soon. After spending a lot of money over the summer, QPR have not been able to deliver the results so far this campaign. As a result, the odds for Mark Hughes becoming the next manager to get the sack in the Premier league has been shortened severely. QPR will be going into the London Derby against West Ham knowing that they have collected just one point from the last five matches in the Premier league.

This means that they are currently bottom of the Premier league with just two points on the board. The Southampton manager Nigel Adkins was the favourite to get the first sack this season, but the defeat against Tottenham last weekend has increased the pressure on Mark Hughes. Ahead of the match will West Ham, the former Blackburn and Manchester city manager has said that he is not extremely confident about the prospect of keeping a clean sheet against West Ham because he is facing a defensive crisis at the moment. Players like Fabio Da Silva and many others are currently unavailable from the first team.

“I think for the most part our performances have been fine up to a point. Obviously we need to see games out. We have selection problems at the moment in a key area of the field in defence. We have had too much of a turnover [with] selection and personnel changes, that doesn’t lend to having continuity of performance. We’ve created some decent football in the initial period but it was always going to take time,” said the QPR manager Mark Hughes ahead of the match with West Ham on Monday night.

FABIO HEADS TO QPR ON LOAN

QPR have secured the signing of former Blackburn Rovers defender Junior Hoilett. The defender arrives on a free transfer after his contract with the Championship came to an end last season. He will be one of the new signings at the club alongside the Manchester United defender Fabio Da Silva, who has arrived on a loan deal at the club.

Even though Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been insistent that Fabio Da Silva has moved only on loan deal and that it would not be made permanent, there are suggestions that Mark Hughes will look to make the move permanent if the Brazilian is successful at Loftus Road.

QPR have been extremely active in the summer transfer window after struggling against relegation last season. Even though the arrival of Mark Hughes in the January transfer window did not alter things a lot, the former Fulham manager promised significant changes in the summer transfer window if the club stayed up in the Premier league. They survived by the skin of their teeth after the 3-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on the final day of last season. As a result, QPR have been making significant purchases in the summer backed by the owner Tony Fernandes.

“I don’t know the process now. They might make us an offer for his registration but if not it might go to a tribunal. We feel we have played a large part in his development. We wish him all the best but it would have been nice if we had a call. I don’t know what the figure was for Daniel Sturridge, but I know it was a chunky figure. We have had Junior a long time, we have put a lot of time and effort in him and I’m sure that will be reflected in the price,” said the Blackburn manager Kean.
